Overview

Job Description

An Adult Day Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a licensed adult day services program, which provides supportive, structured care to older adults and adults with disabilities in a community-based setting. This role ensures regulatory compliance with Minnesota Department of Human Services licensing standards, coordinates staff and volunteers, manages budgets, and develops daily programming that supports the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive well-being of participants.

Adult Day Directors also collaborate with families and caregivers, lead intake assessments, and build relationships with referral sources, such as county case managers and healthcare providers. This position is ideal for compassionate leaders with strong organizational skills and a deep understanding of aging and disability services.

Education Requirements

While licensure may not be required, employers may prefer candidates with relevant experience and credentials in nursing (LPN/RN), social work (LSW), therapeutic recreation (CTRS), or related human services fields. A bachelor’s degree in gerontology, therapeutic recreation, public health, or a related field may also be preferred.
