High School Credit for Caring Careers
High school students in grades 11 and 12 can earn elective credits if employed by long-term care providers, assisted living, or other health care providers.

What’s considered a caring profession?
A caring profession includes working in a nursing home, assisted living facility, home and community-based services, hospitals, health system clinics, and childcare centers.
Who’s eligible?
11 & 12th grade students.
What is it?
Students may earn one elective credit for every 350 hours worked, including hours worked in the summer months, up to two credits per academic year, at the discretion of the school district.
How does it work?
A student who is employed by an eligible employer must submit an application in the required form in order to receive elective credit.
The school district/charter school must verify the hours worked before awarding elective credit.
