Overview

Job Description

C-suite and executive leaders in aging services are responsible for the strategic direction, financial health, and overall performance of one or multiple communities — and, in some cases, multi-site organizations serving thousands of older adults across Minnesota.

Roles at this level include Chief Executive Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Financial Officers, and Vice Presidents overseeing functional areas like nursing, operations, or people. Every major organizational decision — expansion, staffing strategy, capital investment, care model — runs through executive leadership.

This is where experience across the field converges: people who have led communities, managed clinical operations, navigated regulatory environments, and developed teams. If you’ve built a career in aging services and want to shape its future, this is where that work leads.

Education Requirements

Educational requirements vary by role. Most C-suite positions require a bachelor’s degree at minimum; a master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field is common and often preferred. The Health Services Executive (HSE) credential, offered through the National Association of Long-Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB), is a recognized mark of executive-level expertise in aging services.

A Day In This Role

An executive’s day varies widely by role and organization. It might include a board presentation on strategic priorities, a meeting with the clinical team on a system-wide quality initiative, a review of financial performance with the CFO, a site visit to a community, and a call with a state agency contact about an upcoming policy change. The work is high-stakes, multi-dimensional, and deeply influential.
