Overview

Job Description

As a laundry aide, you make sure residents always have clean clothes, fresh linens, and the supplies they need to feel comfortable and cared for. Responsibilities include sorting and washing laundry, folding and distributing clean items, and maintaining adequate linen supplies across the community.

This work is more meaningful than it might first appear. For older adults, having clean, well-kept clothing and bedding is a matter of dignity and comfort. Your consistency and attention to detail is part of what makes residents feel at home.

Education Requirements

No formal education is required for this role. Some employers may prefer a high school diploma or equivalent. All necessary training is provided on the job.

A Day In This Role

You’ll start the day sorting incoming laundry and loading washers. As loads finish, you fold, label, and distribute items back to resident rooms. Throughout the day you track linen inventory, flag anything that needs replacing, and make sure every resident’s personal laundry is returned correctly. It’s steady, physical work with a clear sense of purpose — and no two days are exactly the same.

Advancement Opportunities: Where this role can take you

Cross-Pathway Note: Laundry aides who enjoy working closely with residents often move into caregiving roles like Resident Assistant. Others build toward supervisory roles within housekeeping and maintenance. Aging services rewards people who show up, work hard, and want to grow.
