Overview

Job Description

In aging services, marketing and sales isn’t primarily about revenue — it’s about helping families find the right home for someone they love. That reframe shapes how you tell your community’s story, how you build trust with prospective residents and families, and how you measure success.

Sales and marketing professionals in this setting develop and execute strategies to attract new residents, build community reputation, manage digital and social media presence, coordinate communications with families, and often play a key role in the admissions funnel alongside coordinators and leadership.

If you have a background in marketing, communications, or customer-facing sales and you’re looking for work that feels genuinely meaningful — this is a role where those skills serve people.

Education Requirements

Requirements vary by employer. Most roles require strong written and verbal communication skills, comfort with digital tools and social media, and the ability to build relationships with prospective residents and families. A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or business is common but not always required. Prior experience in customer-facing sales, hospitality, or healthcare marketing is often valued.

A Day In This Role

A day might include responding to online inquiries from families researching care options, updating the community’s website and social media, following up with a prospective resident’s family after a tour, preparing materials for a community event, and meeting with the administrator to review census and occupancy data. In smaller communities, one person may handle all of these responsibilities.

Advancement Opportunities: Where this role can take you

Cross-Pathway Note: Sales and marketing professionals who develop deep knowledge of aging services operations sometimes move into admissions coordination, community director roles, or broader executive leadership — particularly in organizations where census management and community reputation are closely linked.
