Job Description
An MDS coordinator helps manage a nursing team and serves as liaisons in the intake and clinical evaluation process of residents, where they’re responsible for up-to-date assessments of the patient and oversee the interdisciplinary assessment. The MDS coordinator monitors patient care by assessing procedures, speaking with patients and recording medical codes. MDS coordinators also enter medical codes and are involved in medical billing processes, ensuring they maintain accurate medical records.
Education Requirements
Most employers require current RN licensure through the Minnesota Board of Nursing and may prefer a professional certification as a resident assessment coordinator or related program.
